Houska Vase

$48.00

We love working with mesquite. Every piece is different, but always beautiful. With a wonderful light/dark contrast, this vase also has a few holes which were filled with crushed 100% turquoise. It has a fabulous satin finish, not as flashy as shiny finishes, but more subtle and fabulous to touch. With a narrow top opening, the vase is designed to hold a few dried flowers or grasses.

Height: 8”
Top Diameter: 7/8”
Maximum Diameter: 3”
Hole Opening: 1/4”

Tara Houska Zhaabowekwie is a tribal attorney, land defender and climate justice activist. She founded the Giniw Collective, a group which has been protesting against the Line 3 oil pipeline running from Alberta to Wisconsin. The area's tribal nations maintain the treaty rights to hunt, fish, and gather on land along the pipeline. Houska was an adviser to Senator Bernie Sanders as his campaign Native American advisor. During his 2016 presidential campaign, she was the lead author of his Native policy platform.
