Przewalski Jar with Wood Lid
This striking pink jar was decorated by horsehair which was burned onto the piece during the raku process to create organic lines and smoky shading. Completing the look, a small wood lid, stained black, protects the contents of the jar. This mixed media piece fuses traditional techniques and contemporary design, taking storage of small items to a whole new level.
Height: 2-1/2” base only, 4-1/2” with lid
Top Diameter: 2-1/2”
Maximum Diameter: 3-1/8”
Bottom Diameter: 2-1/2”
The only true wild horse breed on the planet, Przewalski’s horses are native to the central Asian steppes. They adapted to their harsh environment and are able to withstand extreme heat and cold. Once extinct in the wild with only a few animals left in zoos, they were reintroduced to the Mongolian wild in the 1990s. Ongoing efforts are aimed at increasing their numbers.
