Hernandez Vase
This vase upends the standard cube, reminding us that things can look completely different when we consider a new perspective. Moonlight blends into the deepest night in the glaze on the exterior.
Height: 4-3/8”
Width: 5”
Hole Diameter: 1”
The moon theme of this vase pays homage to one of Ansel Adams’ most famous photographs, Moonrise over Hernandez. Hernandez is a very small town in New Mexico which, like other nearby towns, is struggling with contaminated underground water supplies. More than 80 percent of New Mexicans have radioactive metals and toxic chemicals in their water at levels that may pose cancer and immunological risks, especially since these ‘forever’ chemicals accumulate and remain within the body. After public outcry, the New Mexico Environment Department and public utility companies are addressing the issue.
