Purple-Laced Copper Pot

$42.00

The copper glaze on this pot has a multi-color, iridescent sheen when the light hits it. It was fired via the raku process, pulled from the kiln while over 1000 degrees, then placed in a metal container with shreds of newspaper which ignited due to the heat of the pot. The interaction of the flames and the glaze created the one-of-a-kind finish. Purple lacing at the rim adds an extra decorative touch.

Top Diameter: 4-3/4"
Maximum Diameter: 5-3/4"
Bottom Diameter: 4-1/4"
Height: 3-1/4"

Copper mining certainly has environmental hazards, including air and water pollution. But copper itself is a very sustainable material that can be recycled again and again. When a copper product reaches the end of its lifecycle, it can be recovered, melted down and then cast into a new product, ready for use again.
