Shpilenok Bowl
This natural-edge bowl was made from Russian olive, which is unfortunately an invasive tree throughout the western U.S. It doesn’t need to be removed if it’s not causing a problem by choking out native cottonwoods, box elders or willows. When it is taken down, it’s an absolutely beautiful wood as shown in this dark bowl with a light rim and fabulous grain pattern.
Top Diameter: 6-1/4”
Bottom Diameter: 3-3/4”
Height: 2-7/8”
Igor Shpilenok is a Russian wildlife photographer who founded a nature preserve along the Nerussa River near the Russian border with Ukraine. His father was a passionate hunter who tried to make his son interested in hunting. Instead, Shpilinok grew fond of nature and preferred to enjoy its beauty without hurting it. He is a two-time winner of the BBC Photographer of the Year award.
