The unusual glaze pattern on this vessel portrays a lava flow, like that from Mt. Vesuvius. The effect can’t be predicted, as it’s a reaction which occurs in the kiln during firing. This piece is a blend of clay and wood, as the box elder handle of the lid was turned on the lathe.
