Starry Night Tealight Holder

$32.00

The design on this tealight holder pays homage to Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting, Starry Night. It represents the myriad stars of the night sky as well as the Milky Way. Holes of different sizes will produce a wonderful pattern on a dark background when illuminated from within by a candle. The candle holder was handpainted in the centuries-old tradition of majolica from Spain.

Height: 2-3/8”
Top Diameter: 3”
Maximum Diameter: 3-3/4”
Bottom Diameter: 2-1/4”

The night sky is breathtaking when seen in true darkness. Unfortunately, though, the increasing light pollution from artificial illumination prevents most people from ever seeing its majesty. The illumination at night also has health consequences. It affects our sleep, disrupts our circadian rhythms and impedes production of melatonin. A lack of melatonin has been tied to an increased risk of cancer. Fortunately, much of this pollution can be prevented. Switching to warm-colored LED or compact fluorescent bulbs will reduce energy use. Motion sensors will provide illumination only when needed and down-facing fixtures will limit the light flare even more. Turning off unnecessary indoor lights, especially at night, will help the environment and save money, too.
